A Central Army jawan has been arrested on charges of molestation in Chitpur. The ruling party of the state, Trinamool Congress (TMC), has strongly criticized the Central Force jawan, questioning the incident through a post on their official X handle. The TMC pointed out this as a recurring issue, citing similar allegations in Uluberia, Jangipara, and Ghatal.
According to reports, the accused CRPF jawan molested a woman while returning home after voting. The incident occurred on Sunday night when the jawan, allegedly in a drunken state, entered a woman's house in the Paikpara area. The woman, who was asleep at the time, screamed for help, prompting neighbors to rush to her aid and catch the jawan red-handed. A video of the incident has been surfaced showing the jawan apologizing with folded hands and the woman confronting him for his actions. However, Taaza TV doesn't verify the authenticity of the video.
Following the incident, the woman lodged a written complaint at Chitpur police station, leading to the jawan's arrest.
